Smallest café in North America

I haven't yet overcome my obsession with small places. This time, I'm not showing you another small apartment but the smallest take-away coffee bar in North America. La Distributrice (The Dispenser) occupies the smallest commercial space in Montréal (underneath a staircase), serving espresso, americano and latté from its delightful little window directly on the street. Gabriel Lefebvre and Rachel Lecompte designed the minimal black-and-white brand identity and packaging. The custom typography, the monochrome graphics and that paper cup-carrier are just one-of-a-kind.

The ultimate bachelor home

What does a man, and a recently divorced one, need in his home? I will tell you; a cosy and pleasant apartment with minimal decoration, so he doesn't have to clean lot of things, a comfortable sofa/bed with a nice plasma tv to watch football, a modern fridge full of beers and a quite bedroom for naughty nights. You can actually find all the above in this 36sqm São Paulo micro apartment by Brazilian architect Alan Chu.

A neutral colour palette of white, grey and black is combined with wooden surfaces. Alan Chu took advantage of the wall next to the entrance creating a storage unit, including an open kitchen with its appliances and an entertainment system. All the pinewood crate-like boxes have a red finish inside; the only colour touch in this apartment along with the reddish carpet, the scarlet Smeg fridge and the hanging vintage telephone. A black metal staircase spirals up to the mezzanine through another wooden box leading to the black-coloured bedroom area.

29sqm of stylish bliss

Can you fit a whole house in 29sqm? Of course you can and it can look surprisingly spacious. 3XA architects did it in Poland, designing a mini loft-styled apartment. They took advantage of the 3,7m ceiling height in order to create a semi-mezzanine for the bed area. OSB wood is the key material as it's part of the kitchen counter, the closet and the stairs/bookcase.

An apartment full of hidden Surprises!

We all imagine of having a big comfortable home but architect Barbara Appolloni proved that even x-small spaces do 'have souls'! This 22-sq-metre-studio is located in the centre of Barcelona and its owner wanted a home that could combine the space-saving furniture aboard boats and the clean lines of a small Japanese house.
