Pops of colour

In some cases colour doesn't have to take all over the place. Sometimes it just have to be a discreet optical surprise in a neutral environment. Famous Australian designer, Fiona Lynch designed the interior of a grand Victorian terrace in Melbourne’s South Yarra. She created a calm and lounging space using a white and light grey palette as a base mixed with custom made furnishing and some pops of pastel and bright colours. Can't stop staring at these images. Great inspiration!

VEDBAEK HOUSE IV

I love white. All kind of white and all hues of white. And I love concrete. And of course, I love their combination. Today's post has both. It's about a beautifully decorated home named VEDBAEK HOUSE IV by Danish studio NORM.ARCHITECTS. The white-washed walls meet the grey concrete textured floors creating the best base of a minimal home, filled with black, grey, white and wooden furnitures. All other decorative items, lightings and curtains add the final touches, being part of the house's colour palette. Clean, bright and sharp. My favourite style.

Danish summer house

This house is on Denmark's north coast, very close to the beach. The family has a lovely outside area with big pine trees and wild nature. Just pay attention to a couple of things around the house: the amazing black wardrobe, bathroom's floor tiles, the big rusty metal B-letter decorating living's wall and the calm and relaxed sense you get by looking at these images. Have a nice Friday guys!

A country Swedish family house

In white we trust! White is the ultimate colour to create the best canvas for a scandi-inspired house. In this case, Ida Olofsgård, the owner of the interior design store Sockerklaras in Sävsjö, Sweden, and her husband, Kristoffer renovated their 1800-built timber-frame farmhouse by painting all the interiors pure white. Rustic wood details, leather, vintage and shabby-chic furniture, beige and grey linen are just some of the features that make this house looks so fresh, friendly and charming. Love the entrance-porch with the hammock.

Ridge Road Residence by StudioFour

These images totally blew my mind. All these modern and singular black volumes combined with the amazing natural environment make this beautiful housing project. Its name is Ridge Road residence by StudioFour and is located on the Mornington Peninsula in Australia. Love the crisp black'n'white colour scheme that really highlights the sleek design of this home.

God's Loft

Dutch studio Leijh, Kappelhof, Seckel, van den Dobbelsteen Architects took a historic church and turned it into a wicked loft living space. Located in Haarlo, The Netherlands, the building was constructed in 1928 and was redesigned for owners who live by their own motto saying: “Cherish your inner child; remain pure, playing, exploring and a little bit naughty!”

B&W dreams

Do you like black & white interiors? A Danish family renovated this 1923 patrician house into a white, bright and simplistic living space. All furniture and interior got an overhaul, and the result was a new and softer version - without losing the modern touch - of the old soulful house. Black and white decoration is so Scandinavian - fresh and elegant with just enough decorative items and accessories as needed.

White + Pastels in a loft

French designer Caroline Gomez created her personal space into an old workshop for jukeboxes and pinball, built in the 1930s. As Caroline decorating her new apartment, she thought of it as a white canvas where everything was possible. In the end, the large white surfaces combined with sweet pastel shades make the house bright and light.

Danish inspiration

Today's inspiration comes from Denmark where there's this traditional, externally at least, house.  Internally, the Danish sun light is reflected on the white surfaces of the walls, ceilings and pale raw wood flooring and wall covering, creating a modern minimalistic atmosphere. The rather larger-than-the-natural-size chess and the oversized letter-sculpture give a theatrical touch to the living room. However the element that stands out is the preserved herringbone-style brick floor in the kitchen.

White and light Grey

Another great white house just added to the Hommie's inspirational collection! I've said it before and I will always say that white is bright, is fresh, is calm, is just perfect for a relaxing family house like this one! The wooden floor and the brick wall add warmth while pastel and colour accents mix perfectly with the general white and light grey decor! Modern furniture, like Mies Van Der Rohe's Barcelona chair, are combined with vintage pieces, having of course white as common element.

Scandinavian house with rustic touch

I've already mentioned it before and I can't hide that I cannot resist to the pure white of Scandinavian style! This house is a very inspirational example. During the renovation, the details of this 1910's house (wooden floor, doors, classic tiles, decorative wall covering) remained and became part of the new house having a white-washed 'treatment'. Interior is beautifully bright and feels very clean plus the vintage furniture giving it nice rustic touch warming the place a bit.

Minimal Industrial Chic

Swedish decoration style will never disappoint me! This is how I came upon this, as the title mentions, minimal industrial chic house in Falun, Sweden, owned by Susanne Gillerås and her family. The decoration is 'a mix of different eras, different styles, minimalism, straightness, simplicity and plenty of black and white', as Susanne describes in Residence magazine.

Inspiration from South Africa

Everything in the art of decoration is about combinations! And when you combine successfully   white floors and walls, vintage and rustic furniture with simple decorative accessories, then you should have in mind this lovely house in South Africa. Everything seems so clean and bright! The natural sunlight enters through the white curtains lighting up the interior and making the raw-wooden furnishing standing out!

Swedish Beauty

I guess you have realized that white walls, concrete floors and white rustic wooden ceilings are my favourites! And when all the above are combined in one house plus a wonderful black kitchen with burnt yellow tiles, then this house's automatically added to my My-Favourites list! The owners,  Hanriette and Peter, live here with their daughter in the most beautiful part of southern Sweden called Österlen. The 300sqm house was originally used as stables but after some substantial renovation became what you see in the pictures below. There are still plenty of originals details left, like the huge stable doors and the beams in the ceiling.

At Magnus Reed's Home/Studio

Today, while I was looking around the net to find something interesting, I came across this picture, the one you see below. And I thought I should definitely need to know in which house this incredible floor and pendant, in the background, are! So I did my research and I found out that this house is located in Berlin and belongs to the famous British photographer Magnus Reed!

Christmas in Scandinavian mood

Scandinavian decoration style = all-time-classic love! Simple, distinctive, minimalist, vintage, even in christmas decoration! It's about the cottage of couple Mille Christine and their two daughters, who made this excellent home, both elegant and cozy! This kind of decoration is my favourite and I think every single item is placed where it should! With the only thing I disagree is the christmas tree...I prefer if not a fake one (which by the way you can find very nice and realistic ones) at least a real one with its pot in order to be transplanted at the end of christmas holidays!
Extra decor points: to the vintage copper Tolix chair in the dining area!

Autumn Grey

I just love this house in Sweden! I like this minimal grey style combined with rustic furniture and natural materials! Concrete details give also great character to bathroom and kitchen!

From Poland with Love!

Cosy and beautifully decorated houses can be everywhere, even in the most remote little village! So today we'll see this house located not in NY, Berlin, London or some other cosmopolitan capital but in a small town in Poland! The owners are the illustrator Joanna "Asia" Swis, her husband Seba and their beloved pets!
